Court releases one suspect in attempted rape case at guesthouse
The police are now working to appeal the release order

One of two suspects have been released after being arrested on Thursday night over an attempted rape at a guesthouse in capital city Male’.
The police service stated that two men aged 32 and 33 had been arrested, and that the Criminal Court on Friday remanded the 33-year-old for five days and released the 32-year-old.
The police are now working to appeal the release order.
On Thursday night, officers patrolling the Maafannu ward entered a guesthouse after hearing a scream inside and found four men attempting to rape a woman, stated the police.
Police have not disclosed any information on the two men that escaped.
Officers also found suspected alcoholic beverages inside the room.
