A website has been launched to help victims of human trafficking.
Helpvot.gov.mv allows users to easily report human tracking violations to the police.
The website shows information on the laws on human trafficking and provides contact information of the relevant authorities, foreign embassies, and non-governmental organizations.
Human trafficking cases are investigated under special procedures, stated the police service, adding that they need help of the international community in many of the cases.
The police service stated that they will continue to update and improve the website.
According to the website, human trafficking is the second largest criminal industry in the world and the fastest growing one, and 70% of the victims of trafficking are women and 50% are children.
