Elections Commission (EC) has said that it will be announcing the constituency results in the upcoming parliamentary elections, instead of separate ballot box results.
Elections Commissioner Ahmed Shareef announced this at a press conference on Sunday, adding that ballot box results “will be available to check online” through the Commission’s website results.election.gov.mv.
He also noted that results of the ballot boxes will be announced at the polling stations.
Officials at the stations will then send the results to the Commission via tablet, which will later be verified after it receives the “hardcopy” of the results.
Shareef further noted that the Commission will follow all legal procedures, which includes publicizing results at polling stations.
With 386 candidates competing in 87 constituencies, EC is to place 501 ballot boxes across Maldives and abroad.
