The Ministry of Higher Education and the Islamic University of Maldives have signed an agreement in relation to President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s free education scheme for degree students.

The scheme offers completely free courses for students who aim to start first degree from February 14 onwards.

At a ceremony on Wednesday, Director General Dr. Abdul Raheem Hassan signed on behalf of the ministry, and Vice Chancellor Aishath Khaleel signed on behalf of the university.

The university stated that their first-degree students and those who enrolled in the degree programme for the January semester are exempt from paying tuition under the agreement.

A total of 2,502 are enrolled in 72 programmes at the university. Also, the university is set to open higher education opportunities across the Maldives from their learning centers in the atolls.
