Vice President Faisal Naseem has on Wednesday visited King Salman and Maaveyo mosques.
During his visit, VP Naseem acknowledged the challenges faced by workers in carrying out their work. He was also briefed on the progress of the development of the mosques.
The King Salman Mosque, being built as a historical monument, began in February 2016 and will become the largest mosque in the Maldives history once completed.
The six-story structure can accommodate up to 6,000 worshippers and is to consist of a library, center for the Holy Quran, multi-purpose halls, classrooms and meeting rooms.
It is being named after King Salman of Saudi Arabia, and is funded by the Gulf kingdom.
Maaveyo mosque was scheduled to be completed by 2017, however, the project is still ongoing.
