As part of his trip to the Maldives, King Salman will sign the agreement on the mega project for Faafu Atoll. The official also said that a special ceremony will be held for the signing.

A contingent of 1500 peoples and five jets will accompany the King on his March trip. He will begin his vacation after signing the agreement. For his trip, three resorts had been booked for 13 days.

Under the mega project, the island of Himithi and various lagoons will be taken. The surrounding areas are to be reclaimed to create a city that can house one million people. The project will be undertaken in three phases.

Over 70 buildings will be created under the first phase. Under that phase, area around Himithi and Maavaru lagoon will be reclaimed. The entire area will amount to three nautical miles. Under the second and third phases, other lagoons of the area will be reclaimed.
