JP's Sameer resigns as party secretary general
Sameer was appointed as a minister at the President's Office in December 2018

Ruling coalition partner, Jumhooree Party (JP) has on Wednesday said that its secretary general, Ahmed Sameer, has resigned from the post.

According to JP, Sameer resigned from the post as he is unable to conduct the party's daily work due to his responsibilities as a minister at the President's Office. He was appointed to the post in December last year.

Following his resignation, state minister at the health ministry during the previous administration, Hussain Rasheed, has been assigned to the post.

Rasheed left former President Abdulla Yameen's administration following the controversial order issued by the Supreme Court on 1st February 2018.

JP has also appointed former principal, Moosa Mushthag, as his deputy.
