The Pakistani man had almost drowned while saving his wife who was drifting out to sea

A Pakistani tourist was saved from drowning at sea in K. Thulusdhoo.

Speaking to RaajjeMV, Thulusdhoo council president Ahmed Anees said that the Pakistani man had almost drowned while saving his wife who was drifting out to sea.

Anees said the man was saved by some locals who saw him in distress, and that he is now recovering at the health center.

The Thulusdhoo council stated that they have begun work with the police to monitor guesthouses over incidents of tourist drownings.

There have been increased reports of tourist-related incidents, with a tourist being found dead at sea at Paradise Island Resort on Saturday and another tourist drowning at the resort on January 16. A couple from the Phillipines had also drowned on January 13 during their honeymoon in K. Dhiffushi.
