Pakistani arrested with 1.1 kg of drugs

The arrested individual is a 54-year-old Pakistani man

The drugs were found packed in a rubber wrapping inside his shoes

A Pakistani individual has been apprehended attempting to smuggle 1.1 kilograms of illicit drugs into the country.

The Maldives Customs Service said that the 54-year-old man was arrested after his behaviour aroused suspicion among officials at the Velanaa International Airport.

The drugs were found packed in a rubber wrapping inside his shoes.

The drugs, reportedly with a street value MVR 4 million, has been handed over to police custody.
