Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) reports that a missing tourist has been found dead.

The tourist, who was reported missing near Eriyadhu Island Resort, was found underwater. MNDF added that they were in the process of confirming the death. No other details were revealed at the time.

MNDF said the case was first reported to the agency at around 1830hrs Thursday and officers and divers of the Male’ Area Coast Guard squadron had begun the search.

MNDF reports the deceased was a 35-year old man. He had left the island around 1400hrs.
