Vice President Faisal Naseem has stated that the administration of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih will spend for the education system 'more than any other government has.'
VP Naseem made the statement at the event held at Aminiyya School to launch the 'school breakfast program' which is included among President Solih's key pledges.
Commemorating the start of the new academic year, VP Naseem stated that the government prioritizes maintaining a virtuous education system in order to build a virtuous generation.
The VP also shed light on the importance of imparting knowledge, going on to advice all students to be ones who obey their teachers, listen to their parents, maintain eagerness to learn, never skip prayers so as to achieve good results.
Also speaking at the event, Education Minister Dr. Aishath Ali stated that difficulties will surface at every new beginning. As such, the Minister expressed hope that students will remain patient if any issues are faced at the start of the breakfast program.
With the commencement of the new academic year, 213 schools have begun teaching, with 144 out of them teaching single-sessions.
The Education Ministry has compiled an audit to implement President Solih’s pledge to restart single-session school policy during his campaign in 2018 for the Presidential Election.
