Two of the five individuals injured in a marine accident late Saturday night, are still undergoing treatment.

The accident occurred after a fishing boat collided with a ferry from a resort near Haudigalaa island of Gaafu Dhaalu atoll; three were discharged after treatment.

All five individuals were immediately taken to Dr. Abdul Samad Memorial Hospital in Thinadhoo island, located in the same atoll.

The hospital’s manager Aminath Abdul Hakeem said that the two individuals still admitted at the hospital “had sustained injuries to the head” and that they are being kept at hospital for 24 hours “for observation.”

She added that they are both “in good condition”.

According to Maldives Police Service (MPS), those injured in the accident were traveling in the resort ferry.

While the vessels have since been transferred to Thinadhoo, police said that they had sustained heavy damages.
