Hulhumale’ Accident: Two Victims Placed on Ventilator Support

The accident occurred when a motorcycle, traveling against traffic while allegedly attempting to evade a police vehicle, collided with another vehicle; authorities suspect the motorcycle was stolen and are conducting a further investigation into the incident.

Two individuals injured in a serious collision between two motorcycles on Nirolhu Magu in Hulhumale’ Phase 2 are currently receiving treatment on ventilator support, according to IGMH.
IGMH has stated that both individuals injured in the accident are currently being treated on ventilator support. While both remain in critical condition, it has been reported that one of the victims sustained a brain hemorrhage.
IGMH has further stated that the other three individuals injured in the accident are currently receiving treatment in the ward. No additional details have been disclosed.
The five individuals injured in the accident initially received medical treatment at Hulhumale’ Hospital. However, due to the severity of their conditions, all five have since been transferred to IGMH for further care.
The accident occurred at approximately 2:55 a.m. on October 7, 2026.
Police investigations have revealed that one of the motorcycles involved in the accident was carrying three passengers and traveling against the flow of traffic on a one-way street. Furthermore, police stated that the motorcycle is suspected to have been stolen and that the individual operating the vehicle did not possess a valid driving license for that category of vehicle.
The Maldives Police Service is conducting a further investigation into the matter.
Some sources have reported that the accident occurred when the three individuals attempted to evade a police vehicle by driving against the flow of traffic on a one-way street.
