A young man dismissed from the Fenaka Corporation branch in B. Hithaadhoo has filed a case with the Employment Tribunal, expressing concern that his termination was carried out in violation of established regulations.
In an appearance on RaajjeTV’s "Haalu Kihineh?" program, the young man provided a detailed account of the circumstances surrounding his dismissal from employment.
He revealed that during the onboarding process for employees transferring from Fenaka to STELCO, he was contacted on July 16 and informed that his employment had been finalized. He further stated that the company had collected personal details, including his blood group and bank account number, as well as providing him with the security codes and usernames required to access STELCO’s systems.
Aamir called a specific number, and that same number contacted me as well. They informed me that I had secured the job and discussed all the relevant details. Following that, they began messaging me on Viber from their official number, requesting my personal information.Young man dismissed from Hithaadhoo Fenaka branch
He further stated that on July 22, while he was on leave, he was instructed to go near the school to return his STELCO uniform and identification card. However, after the assistant manager called to inform him that the boat had already departed, he was told to report to the jetty early the following morning, July 23.
However, while he was at the jetty, he received a phone call informing him that his name was not included on the list. He further stated that he was instructed to remain in his current position at Fenaka.
"There are two ways to look at this situation. I believe that since I am currently on leave, I cannot be involved in official matters. That is why I suggested waiting for me. I will be staying back for now, as my leave is scheduled to conclude on August 2nd."Young man dismissed from Hithaadhoo Fenaka branch
He stated that upon submitting a letter to Fenaka on August 4 following the conclusion of his leave, he was served with a termination notice that same day.
The termination letter specified July 20 as the effective date of dismissal. The individual noted that being terminated while on leave is unacceptable, adding that the matter has now been filed with the Employment Tribunal alongside other staff members dismissed from the same branch.
