Two employees working at Fenaka branch in F. Feeali abruptly dismissed

30 އޯގަސްޓު 2026 | އާދީއްތަ 10:41

Two employees at Fenaka Corporation's Feeali branch have been dismissed under the company's redundancy policy as part of a transition to a new organizational structure. This move comes amid growing public concern over job cuts across state-owned enterprises driven by the government's austerity measures, with many critics highlighting that these layoffs contradict President Muizzu's pledge to ensure job security for all civil servants and state employees.

Fenaka Feeali Branch.

Fenaka Feeali Branch.

Two employees working at the Fenaka Corporation branch in F. Feeali have been abruptly dismissed from their positions.

According to reports, the dismissals were carried out as part of the transition to Fenaka Corporation’s new administrative structure, which came into effect on June 30, 2026. The terminations were executed under Article 3 and Article 10(a) of the "Fenaka Corporation Limited Redundancy Policy 2026," which was implemented on May 13, 2026.

In the termination notices issued to the two employees, the reason cited for their dismissal was a decision to release them under a new policy, accompanied by a payment equivalent to a two-month notice period.

Furthermore, the notice stated that the payment equivalent to two months' notice would be deposited within 14 days.

Despite President Muizzu’s own assertions during his presidential campaign that no state-owned enterprise employees would be dismissed upon his transition to power, the reality being observed is the termination of ordinary citizens under the guise of cost-cutting measures. Public concern is mounting as these layoffs of general staff are being followed by the appointment of individuals to high-salaried political positions, contradicting the administration's stated austerity goals.

Island and city councils are expressing growing concern over the ongoing dismissal of employees from state-owned enterprises, including Fenaka Corporation and the Waste Management Corporation (WAMCO).
