Dissolving Fenaka and RDC will not reduce government expenditure: MP Ziyad

Member of Parliament for the Vaikaradhoo constituency, Hussain Ziyad, has stated that dissolving Fenaka Corporation Limited and the Road Development Corporation (RDC) will not result in a reduction of government expenditure.
Speaking on RaajjeTV’s "TV Talk" program, MP Ziyad stated that President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s decision to dissolve Fenaka and RDC is merely a change in name. He noted that any resulting financial impact—whether a saving or an added cost—would be limited to the expense of replacing signage, asserting that no other significant changes would occur.
Ziyad stated that the majority of projects planned for the islands had been awarded to Fenaka and RDC. He noted that while the decision has now been made to dissolve these two companies, it was President Muizzu himself who had initially entrusted them with all these projects.
Two days later, I heard during a press briefing that no one would be adversely affected by this. It was stated that despite the dissolution of the two companies, there would be no staff reductions, and no offices would be vacated. All facilities will remain operational with electricity, and all employees will retain their positions. The two companies are being dissolved in name only. The only thing that will be gone are the names "Fenaka" and "RDC"; there are no other changes. It is simply the signboards that will be removed.Hussain Ziyad
Highlighting that President Muizzu has consistently acted against his own pledges, Ziyad stated that the President’s dishonesty is now being exposed to the Maldivian public. MP Ziyad further remarked that secrets can only be kept for so long, and those hidden truths are now coming to light.
Furthermore, Ziyad spoke regarding the "Respect" initiative launched by President Muizzu. In this regard, Member Ziyad emphasized that the most crucial step in fostering respect is for those advocating the message to lead by example through their own actions.
Ziyad questioned how respect could be accorded to President Muizzu, given that his past actions while leading the opposition remain clearly visible to the public.
