A white alert has been issued as weather conditions deteriorate across the entire Maldives.

The Maldives Meteorological Service has issued a white alert from 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM this Wednesday, covering the area from Haa Alif Atoll to Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll.

The agency stated that the alert forecasts heavy rainfall and thunderstorms, with wind speeds expected to gust up to 40 mph. Additionally, several alerts have been issued for various regions at different times throughout Wednesday.

A white alert was issued across a large part of the country on Wednesday night, as ongoing severe weather continues to cause varying degrees of damage across different regions of the Maldives.

Heavy rainfall has led to widespread flooding in residential homes, incidents of roofs being blown off, and frequent power outages. Additionally, several maritime accidents have been reported as the severe weather continues.

Relevant authorities have therefore urged all parties to exercise special caution and remain vigilant regarding the prevailing weather conditions.
