PNC Senate meeting commences

The congress is scheduled to hold elections for the party's vice presidents and other key leadership positions, while also deliberating on several strategic decisions regarding the party's future direction.

The Senate of the main ruling party, the People’s National Congress (PNC), has commenced its session.
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu inaugurated the PNC Congress on Tuesday morning. The congress is scheduled to take place at the Social Centre from Tuesday through Friday.
Council presidents representing the People's National Congress (PNC), chairpersons of Women's Development Committees, and various delegates have arrived in Male' to attend the party's congress. According to the party, a total of 1,300 members are participating in the event.
The People's National Congress (PNC) has stated that, in addition to electing the party's vice presidents, several other significant decisions will be made during this congress.
Furthermore, the PNC stated that 73 candidates are contesting for the 18 general seats, while 11 candidates are running for the post of Vice President. Additionally, 23 candidates have applied for the 10 seats reserved for women, and 13 candidates are vying for the seven seats designated for youth.
According to the Elections Commission's official registry, the People's National Congress (PNC) currently has 67,579 registered members; however, the party has announced that its total membership has now reached 77,000.
