A female employee at the F. Bilehdhoo branch of Fenaka Corporation has been dismissed from her post while hospitalized following childbirth.
In response to this issue, residents of the island have directed heavy criticism toward both the government and Fenaka Corporation.
According to reports, she was notified of her dismissal at approximately 2:30 PM on Friday, August 28. At the time, it had been less than an hour since she had given birth.
In the letter sent to the employee, Fenaka stated that the dismissal was carried out in accordance with the company's redundancy policy. The letter further noted that the termination includes pay in lieu of a two-month notice period, and confirmed that the funds would be deposited into the individual's account within the next 14 days.
Many have pointed out that while ordinary employees at Fenaka are being dismissed from their jobs, the government continues to appoint individuals to high-level political positions with substantial salaries.
The issue of mass layoffs across various branches of Fenaka Corporation has recently escalated. While the company maintains that these dismissals are part of efforts to streamline operations, concerns have surfaced regarding several employees being terminated without prior notice.
