Fenaka employees in Noomara have been ordered to report for duty at a severely dilapidated building, sparking significant health and safety concerns among the workforce. Despite a substantial portion of a new office complex initiated by the previous administration being complete, construction has stalled, prompting employees to offer their own labor to finish the project if the government provides the necessary support.

Reports indicate that the building is dilapidated and on the verge of collapse. Portions of the structure have already crumbled, leaving the premises damaged beyond use.

A local resident informed RaajjeMV that after employees reported for duty on Sunday, they were instructed to clean the building.

Consequently, the staff are deeply concerned and have requested the government to allow them to continue working in their current building. However, the individual noted that the government has yet to provide a response to their request.

Furthermore, the individual stated that this situation would also pose a significant risk to the health of the employees.

Fenaka employees in Noomara have been ordered to report for work at a severely dilapidated and decaying building, despite significant progress made on a new office and powerhouse during former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s administration. By the time the government changed, 70 percent of the Fenaka administrative office and 80 percent of the powerhouse construction had been completed. However, work on the project has come to a standstill following the transition of power.

During his visit to the island on October 13, 2025, President Muizzu announced that the new building would be completed and staff relocated before the start of Ramadan in 2026.

However, as progress stalled on the initial pledge and staff were ordered to relocate to a dilapidated building, 11 Fenaka employees submitted a formal proposal to the government. They offered to complete the construction of the new office themselves within two months, provided the government supplied the necessary materials. Despite this offer, the project remains at a standstill as the government has yet to provide the required supplies.
