Construction of Naivaadhoo Police Station stalls for nearly a year; site overgrown with vegetation: Council
The Naivaadhoo Island Council has revealed that no physical progress has been made on the construction of the local police station, a project previously contracted to Fenaka Corporation. According to Fenaka, the delays are attributed to logistical challenges in procuring materials and a shortage of labor. Despite nearly a year passing since the project was awarded, the site remains untouched and has become overgrown with vegetation.

The Naivaadhoo Island Council has revealed that no progress has been made on the construction of the local police station, despite the foundation stone being laid by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu during his visit to the island last August.
Naivaadhoo Council President Ahmed Afaaq stated that during President Muizzu's visit to the islands of South Thiladhunmathi in August 2024, the President visited Naivaadhoo and officially announced the commencement of the project by laying its foundation stone. However, he noted that despite the project being awarded to Fenaka Corporation, no physical work has been carried out to date.

Regarding the project delays, Afaaq stated that the new council met with Fenaka Corporation during their consultations with various institutions to clarify the necessary information.
Following the swearing-in of our new council, we held meetings with various institutions. During our meeting with Fenaka, they stated that the project has not commenced because they have not received the necessary materials. Furthermore, the company indicated that they currently lack the manpower required to carry out this work.Ahmed Afaaq, President of the HDh. Naivaadhoo Island Council.
Highlighting the current state of the site designated for the police station, the Council noted that nearly a year has passed since the project was awarded, yet the area remains overgrown with vegetation. Due to the total lack of progress, the entire site has now transformed into a dense thicket.

Although this project remains a beacon of hope for the peace and security of Naivaadhoo residents, information provided by Fenaka reveals that work has come to a complete standstill due to a shortage of materials and a lack of available personnel within the company. The Council has expressed grave concern, noting that to date, no physical infrastructure development related to the project has commenced on the site.
Public concern is mounting as numerous projects launched by the administration in the lead-up to elections have come to a standstill.
