Bunkering service launched by this administration achieved nothing more than a photo and video opportunity involving two vessels dispatched by STO: Ahmed Abdulla

Former MDP Deputy Chairperson and former Ihavandhoo MP Mohamed Abdulla has criticized the government's newly launched bunkering service, claiming it has achieved nothing beyond a photo opportunity involving two STO vessels.

Speaking on RaajjeTV’s "Fala Surukhee" program, Ahmed Abdulla stated that the economic agenda should not be hidden from the public. He emphasized that if an economic agenda exists, it must be transparent and accessible to all citizens.

Ahmed stated that if actions are being carried out under a genuine economic agenda, the outcomes of those initiatives should be clearly defined by the time the nation reaches this stage. Furthermore, he asserted that the bunkering services launched under President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s economic agenda have failed to yield any tangible benefits.

It is simply not financially viable to charter a vessel for 100,000 Rufiyaa just to supply 50,000 Rufiyaa worth of water to a boat in that area. Furthermore, there is a point economists frequently make—and it is not rocket science—that when supply fails to meet demand, prices will inevitably rise.

Ahmed further stated that this administration lacks the personnel capable of formulating plans that would bring positive economic transformations, nor does it have the expertise required to revitalize the nation's economy.

Furthermore, Ahmed stated that due to the lack of order and transparency within this administration, even those who had previously agreed to provide funding have fled in fear. He added that President Muizzu's policies are causing nothing but distress and anxiety for the Maldivian people.
