Following a campaign visit to R. Dhuvaafaru for the upcoming local council elections, former Baarah MP Ahmed Abdulla stated that there is significant public resentment regarding government influence and threats of job dismissal. He further condemned the Elections Commission for its alleged negligence in providing citizens with adequate information regarding the referendum, asserting that proceeding with the vote without proper public awareness is unacceptable.

Former Member of Parliament for the Baarah constituency, Ahmed Abdulla, has stated that the upcoming Local Council and Women's Development Committee elections in April present a crucial opportunity for citizens to reject subjugation.
In an interview with RaajjeMV following a door-to-door campaign activity in R. Dhuvaafaru—part of the MDP leadership’s nationwide tour for the upcoming Local Council and Women’s Development Committee elections—Ahmed Abdulla stated that a key observation from the visit was the deep-seated resentment and anger among many who previously supported the current administration. He noted a clear shift in sentiment, with many now intent on defeating the government.
