Kulhudhuffushi school extension projects: If one stone is laid today, no work is done for the next five days!

The Kulhudhuffushi City Council has raised concerns over severe space constraints affecting approximately 3,000 students across three local schools due to prolonged delays in ongoing construction projects. As the growing population highlights the urgent need for a new educational facility, public anxiety continues to mount over the stalled progress of existing infrastructure developments.

The Deputy Mayor of Kulhudhuffushi City, Ahmed Abdulla, has stated that school development projects initiated by the previous administration across three schools in the city have significantly slowed down since the current government took office. He noted that this stagnation has led to an acute shortage of space and facilities within the schools.

Ahmed Abdulla noted that the previous administration had initiated several projects, including the construction of eight classrooms at Jalaluddin School, an office building at the AEC, and additional classrooms at Afifuddin School. However, he stated that the progress of these projects has slowed down significantly since the current government took office.

The pace of work has slowed down significantly since this administration took office. If a single stone is laid one day, two to five days may pass without any further progress. This is the sluggish pace at which projects are currently moving. Schools are facing extreme space constraints, with student populations in each institution exceeding 1,000. In total, there are approximately 3,000 students enrolled. This is the current reality, and given the rate at which the student population is growing, this city is in urgent need of an additional school. However, this is the stagnant state of ongoing projects.

He noted that progress has been inconsistent, pointing out that if a single stone is laid one day, work often halts for the next two to five days. He further emphasized that the shortage of space has reached a critical level, with each school in Kulhudhuffushi accommodating over 1,000 students, bringing the total enrollment across the three schools to nearly 3,000.

The Deputy Mayor highlighted that a new school is now critically essential for Kulhudhuffushi, given the city's growing population. However, Ahmed Abdulla noted that with ongoing construction projects facing prolonged delays, the public is raising serious questions regarding how much longer they must wait for the development of a new school.
