One year after agreement to develop Kudahuvadhoo commercial port, local council reports receiving no updates on progress

The President of the Kudahuvadhoo Island Council, Mohamed Saleem, has stated that the council has received no updates regarding the development of the Kudahuvadhoo commercial port, despite a year having passed since the agreement was signed.
In an interview with Raajje TV, Mohamed Saleem stated that the development of the Kudahuvadhoo commercial port was officially contracted to Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) on February 24, 2025.
Noting that the project agreement was signed by Economic Minister Mohamed Saeed and Maldives Ports Limited (MPL), Mohamed Saleem stated that the deal includes the development of a bonded warehouse in Kudahuvadhoo in addition to a commercial port.

Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) has stated that the proposed commercial port in Kudahuvadhoo will significantly streamline the distribution of goods to all neighboring islands. However, to date, no physical progress has been made on the construction of the port.
