Residents of Hoarafushi have expressed frustration over the government's neglect of the island, stating that the "visions of development" showcased ahead of the three elections held on April 4 have since faded away.

Nearly all residents who spoke on RaajjeTV’s "Haalu Kihineh?" program shared significant concerns regarding the current state of their community. Some residents noted that major projects launched or promised during the election period have now come to a standstill, leaving the island in a state of stagnation.

The residents of Hoarafushi have expressed deep concern over the deteriorating state of the island's healthcare system. According to some locals, the health center was recently utilized as a political hub for the ruling PNC during the lead-up to the council elections.

"My husband, who has undergone bypass surgery, is struggling to get his medication. When we go to purchase it, we are simply told that the medicine is out of stock."

Hoarafushi resident expresses concern

Residents of the island have expressed concern that the government is failing to address the declining quality of healthcare services and the persistent shortage of essential medicines.

They described the move as a significant blow to the island's natural beauty, carried out under the guise of development.

Expressing a profound loss of confidence in the government's promises, some individuals asserted that President Muizzu must be "removed" from power immediately. Residents further noted that improving the island's conditions would only be possible if the public took to the streets in protest.

Amidst growing complaints that all ongoing development projects in Hoarafushi have come to a standstill, the sentiments of the local residents indicate a significant decline in support for the government and a surge in widespread public discontent.
