Kudahuvadhoo’s development has come to a standstill, and no progress has been made on the hospital project despite the foundation stone being laid in 2024: Shathir
Shathir has expressed deep concern over the lack of progress on the construction of a 50-bed hospital in Kudahuvadhoo, despite the foundation stone being laid in 2024. Highlighting that essential infrastructure projects, including harbor upgrades and road construction, have also come to a standstill, Shathir stated there is little hope that the current administration will fulfill its pledges. He emphasized that while these projects are vital for the island's development, they currently appear to be completely stalled.

Shathir Abdul Rahman, President of the MDP Kudahuvadhoo Constituency National Congress, has stated that while the establishment of a modern hospital remains a top priority for the residents of Dhaalu Kudahuvadhoo, there is no hope of this being achieved under the current administration.
Speaking on RaajjeTV’s "Vaudhunaama" program, Shathir expressed deep concern over the stagnation of development projects in Kudahuvadhoo. He noted that while several projects were physically initiated to coincide with the parliamentary and recent local council elections, work has now ground to a complete halt.
Referring to the project most desired by the residents of Kudahuvadhoo, Shathir stated that the community is in dire need of quality healthcare and seeks the establishment of a modern 50-bed hospital. He noted that although the foundation stone for the hospital was laid in February 2024, no actual work has been carried out on the project to date. He further expressed that there is no hope of this hospital being built under the current administration.
One of the most significant aspirations of the Kudahuvadhoo people is the construction of a 50-bed hospital, a project that underwent various stages of planning during the previous MDP administration. On February 27, 2024, President Muizzu personally traveled to the island to lay the foundation stone for this facility. During a meeting with the residents of Kudahuvadhoo at the Dhaalu Atoll Education Centre that same evening, the President reaffirmed his commitment to the project—a statement that remains documented on the President’s Office website. He assured the community that physical work on the hospital had officially commenced and pledged that the project would be completed at a rapid pace. This commitment was formally established on February 27, 2024.Shathir Abdul Rahman, President of the MDP National Congress Kudahuvadhoo Constituency.
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, during a meeting with the residents of Kudahuvadhoo, announced plans to upgrade the island's hospital and expand its range of services, including the introduction of dialysis treatments. Furthermore, the President provided assurances that a new hospital building would be constructed.
Furthermore, Shathir highlighted other ongoing projects currently being carried out on the island.
Shathir stated that while the harbor upgrade project was awarded to MTCC during the final days of the MDP administration, the work was primarily carried out to coincide with the parliamentary and recent local council elections. He further noted that although the contract for Phase 2 of the island's road development project was signed in 2024, not a single road has been constructed to date.
Shathir stated that the stagnation of the island's development is a matter of grave concern. However, he noted that President Muizzu’s pledges are merely a deception, adding that the public now recognizes him as a leader who fails to fulfill his promises.
