NDMA: Temporary assistance provided to 41 individuals following gas cylinder explosion and fire

Four expatriates have been treated at IGM Hospital following a dangerous fire caused by a gas cylinder explosion at M.A. Doogas in Malé City. The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) stated that temporary assistance has been provided to 41 individuals affected by the incident.
Among those injured in the incident, two are reported to be in serious condition, with one currently on ventilator support. Relevant authorities have confirmed that the remaining three individuals also sustained various degrees of injuries.
According to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), 15 expatriates living in five rooms of the building were safely evacuated when the incident occurred. As a precautionary measure, a total of 41 individuals, including residents from the adjacent building, have been temporarily relocated from the area.
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) is currently working to provide essential shelter and other necessary assistance to those affected by the incident. In coordination with relevant agencies, the Authority has arranged for the provision of food and other basic necessities for individuals who have been temporarily displaced from their homes.
Relevant security forces and the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) are currently working to determine the cause of the incident and assess the extent of the damage. The authority further stated that they are closely monitoring the condition of those injured in the incident.
While it was initially suspected that the incident was caused by a gas cylinder explosion, the exact cause is currently under further investigation.
