The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has reported that a fire broke out on the eighth floor of M. Birdline in Male'.
The Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) Fire and Rescue Service responded to reports of a fire at approximately 8:14 p.m. on Thursday night. The MNDF confirmed that the fire has since been successfully extinguished.
Providing an update on the incident, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) stated that the fire originated from an electrical distribution board in Apartment B on the eighth floor of the building. The authority further noted that one individual from the apartment was treated at the hospital for smoke inhalation following the incident.
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) reported that while the fire caused a power outage in the apartment, no other property or belongings sustained damage.
Furthermore, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) stated that it has arranged temporary shelter and meals for a period of three days for the residents of the apartment.
