The Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) stated on Saturday that firefighters from the Southern Area Command are currently attending to a fire that broke out on a diving safari vessel anchored outside the Feydhoo harbor in Addu City.
Photos and videos circulating online show the entire safari vessel engulfed in flames. A thick plume of black smoke has spread across the surrounding area.
The exact number of people on board the safari vessel at the time of the incident remains unclear.
