The MNDF Southern Area Command is currently working to extinguish a fire that broke out on a diving safari vessel anchored outside the Addu City Feydhoo harbor. While the vessel has been engulfed by flames and is sustaining significant damage, the exact number of people on board at the time of the incident remains unclear.

A fire has broken out on a safari vessel anchored near Feydhoo in Addu City.

The Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) stated on Saturday that firefighters from the Southern Area Command are currently attending to a fire that broke out on a diving safari vessel anchored outside the Feydhoo harbor in Addu City.

Photos and videos circulating online show the entire safari vessel engulfed in flames. A thick plume of black smoke has spread across the surrounding area.

The exact number of people on board the safari vessel at the time of the incident remains unclear.

MNDF stated that further details will be released as they become available.
