One Month On, Boat in Hit-and-Run Collision Still Missing

Police have stated that they are still searching for the vessel that fled the scene following a serious collision with a speedboat on July 9.
Police reported receiving a notification at approximately 21:16 on Thursday night, July 9, stating that a speedboat named "Legion 1" had docked near the Izzudheen Jetty on Boduthakurufaanu Magu following a collision at sea near Male's Official Jetty. Authorities further confirmed that efforts are underway to locate the second vessel involved, which fled the scene without stopping.
Five people on board the speedboat sustained injuries in the accident. The victims include four foreign nationals and one Maldivian man.
Videos and photographs of the incident circulating on social media reveal that the speedboat sustained extensive damage. The footage shows one side of the vessel severely mangled, with the seating area completely destroyed.
Police are further investigating the case to determine the cause of the incident and to locate the vessel that fled the scene following the collision. Authorities have also requested anyone with information regarding the vessel that failed to stop to contact the Marine Police Investigation department at 9926094.
