Two people missing after landing craft sinks near Gaafaru

A landing craft that departed from K. Thilafushi has flooded and sunk.
The Maldives Police Service stated that they received a report at approximately 08:48 AM on Friday regarding a landing craft sinking near Gaafaru, after having departed from Thilafushi earlier that morning.
There were 10 people on board the landing craft at the time of the incident, eight of whom have been located so far. Police confirmed that two individuals remain missing and a search operation is currently underway to find them.
A landing craft has sunk near Gaafaru, while a safari vessel grounded on the breakwater of K. Maafushi. Shortly after the grounding, the safari vessel was completely destroyed.
With the Maldives currently experiencing a significant deterioration in weather conditions and exceptionally rough seas, the Maldives Meteorological Service has urged the public to exercise extreme caution.
