Shujau further noted that during that period, the ruling party's functions were effectively replaced by the influence of the "Madam's Office" rather than traditional party leadership.

Member of Parliament for the Baarah constituency, Ibrahim Shujau, has stated that during President Yameen's administration, the former president spent most of his nights playing cards, while the affairs of the state were being managed through the Ministry of Housing.
During President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and the First Lady’s visit to AA. Ukulhas on Wednesday, a rally was held at the local PNC party office. Speaking at the event, Shujau stated that during former President Yameen’s administration, island and atoll councils were unable to contact the President directly regarding development projects. He further noted that President Yameen had instructed all such parties to consult with then-Minister Muizzu instead.
Shujau stated that during that period, development projects in the Maldives were primarily managed under the Ministry of Housing, noting that the entire state system functioned through the ministry's operations.
"This is not a lie. Maleeh and his associates might not be aware, but we know. Shadu and Mohamed Ismail would know, and Shiyam would know as well. The leaders gathered here know that I do not lie. It has been a long time since I have resorted to political falsehoods. Dear citizens, this is how things were unfolding at the time. For any matter, even late at night, the person to contact was President Muizzu. Every development project was being carried out under the Ministry of Housing, and that ministry was operating twenty-four-seven."Ibrahim Shujau
Shujau stated that while President Yameen speaks of the development achieved during his administration, that tenure was in fact made successful through the contributions of the senior leadership of the PNC.
Furthermore, Shujau leveled sharp criticism against President Yameen, asserting that the party was not functional during his administration and was instead centered around a "Madam's Office."
Following Shujaau’s remarks, members of the public are raising questions as to whether President Muizzu was aware of the corruption that took place during Yameen’s administration.
