Shortage of sample collection tubes reported at B. Fulhadhoo Health Centre

It has been revealed that the health center in B. Fulhadhoo has run out of vials required for collecting and processing medical test samples.

In a video circulating on social media, a concerned citizen has highlighted that the Fulhadhoo Health Center in Baa Atoll has run out of sample collection vials required for medical testing.

According to the source, residents must travel to B. Goidhoo simply to purchase sample bottles. Furthermore, the necessary medical tests cannot be processed in Fulhadhoo after samples are collected, requiring another trip to Goidhoo for testing.

He expressed concern over the Fulhadhoo Health Center's inability to provide even the most basic services, noting that residents are forced to spend 400 MVR on private speedboats just to travel to Goidhoo for medical care.

Furthermore, he stated that when discussing independence, there is no greater form of subjugation than being forced to beg for medical treatment.

With a population of approximately 340 residents, B. Fulhadhoo has established itself as a thriving hub for the guesthouse industry. However, despite its popularity as a tourist destination, residents are expressing growing concern over the lack of adequate healthcare services on the island.

Since President Muizzu took office, a growing number of citizens have expressed concerns over the deteriorating state of the healthcare system. The most significant grievance remains the persistent shortage of essential medicines. To address this crisis, President Muizzu established a dedicated state-owned company specifically for the importation of pharmaceuticals. However, a definitive solution to the issue has yet to be realized.
