Official Independence Day reception cancelled to cut costs
As part of the government's ongoing austerity measures to reduce public spending, the President has decided to cancel this year's official Independence Day reception; however, the formal Independence Day ceremony will proceed at the Social Centre, where the President is scheduled to deliver a national address.

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has decided not to hold the official reception to mark Independence Day this year.
The decision to cancel this meeting was made as part of a series of measures aimed at reducing state expenditure.
The official ceremony to mark Independence Day will be held this year at 9:00 a.m. on Independence Day at the Social Centre. The President's Office has announced that President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu will deliver a national address during the ceremony.
