Greater Male’ Transport and Mobility Office established
A specialized agency has been established to modernize the transport network and develop parking infrastructure as part of a strategic effort to find a permanent solution to traffic congestion in the Greater Male' Area. Operating under the guidance of a governing board, the office will formulate policies to address the challenges posed by the increasing number of vehicles and collaborate with relevant authorities to ensure their effective implementation.

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu on Sunday established the "Greater Male' Transport and Mobility Office" as an agency under the Ministry of Economic Development, Transport and Trade.
The President formed the new body exercising the powers vested in him by Article 116 (a) of the Constitution of the Republic of Maldives.
The establishment of the new office was announced in a directive issued by the President's Office on Sunday.
The President's Office stated that this agency was established to serve as a dedicated government body to address the escalating traffic congestion caused by the rising number of vehicles in the Greater Male' Area.
The office will play a leading role in formulating and implementing programs in coordination with relevant stakeholders to find immediate solutions, modernize the region's transport network, and develop parking facilities and other contemporary infrastructure.
The Greater Male’ Transport and Mobility Office is an agency governed under the guidance of a dedicated governing board. The office's mandate includes developing and implementing programs in collaboration with relevant stakeholders to alleviate traffic congestion in the Greater Male’ region.
It is also tasked with providing expert advice on formulating comprehensive policies to address the challenges caused by the increasing number of vehicles. Furthermore, the office will play a leading role in modernizing the region's transportation network, establishing parking facilities, and implementing innovative solutions to enhance urban mobility.
