Legal counsel Mohamed Nishan Ibrahim has stated that President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu must bear full responsibility for the injustice faced by citizens due to wrongful dismissals from employment.
Speaking on RaajjeTV’s "Fala Surukhee" program, Nishan stated that the current administration is unlawfully dismissing numerous employees from their positions.
Furthermore, he noted that since there is no legal justification to dismiss employees in accordance with the Employment Act, the government’s current strategy is to issue sudden circulars to abolish the positions held by these staff members.
Nishan stated that such incidents have been most prominent recently in connection with the by-election held in Addu City. He noted that several cases have emerged involving the dismissal of a significant number of employees from Addu City. Nishan characterized these actions as being carried out for political motives.
Criticizing the government's current trajectory, Nishan stated that if things continue at this pace, there is no longer any assurance that thousands of employees will not be abruptly terminated and left stranded on the streets. He further alleged that the government might even resort to dissolving state-owned companies entirely as a means to evade the mounting financial burdens on the state.
Furthermore, Nishan stated that President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu is well aware of the injustices being carried out by state-owned enterprises and government institutions. He emphasized that the President cannot evade accountability by claiming ignorance of these actions. Nishan further asserted that the President must take full responsibility for the injustices being inflicted upon the citizens.

In his remarks, Nishan highlighted that despite courts ruling in favor of employees in cases of wrongful termination, the government's current practices are significantly and adversely impacting the lives of ordinary citizens.
Nishan highlighted the importance of streamlining corporate governance within the legal framework to enhance operational efficiency. In this regard, he urged that projects and responsibilities should only be assigned after carefully assessing the financial and administrative capacities of the companies. Furthermore, he described the government imposing an unsustainable burden on state-owned enterprises as a significant threat to their future stability and the job security of their employees.
