NSPA Launches Mass Recruitment Amid Government Downsizing

Applications for various administrative and social benefits officer positions are open until July 9, drawing significant public attention as the recruitment drive coincides with ongoing staff layoffs at several state-owned enterprises under the government's current cost-cutting policy.

The National Social Protection Agency (NSPA) has announced a recruitment drive to fill a significant number of vacancies within the organization.

In its announcement, the National Social Protection Agency (NSPA) invited applications for several positions, including Senior Administrative Officers and Assistant Administrative Officers. Additionally, the agency is seeking to recruit Principal Social Benefits Officers, Senior Social Benefits Officers, and Assistant Social Benefits Officers.

These include employees being recruited to work at the National Social Protection Agency (NSPA) in Male' and Addu City.

According to an announcement by the National Social Protection Agency (NSPA), the agency is seeking to recruit six employees specifically for its call center in Addu City. Additionally, the announcement noted that an administrative officer is also being sought for the branch.

Furthermore, an announcement has been made to recruit 10 employees under various designations to work at the NSPA office in Malé.

The deadline for applications for these positions is 13:30 on Thursday, July 9, 2026.

While the government claims to be working towards "right-sizing" the administration, a significant number of employees recruited to State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) in the islands are being dismissed simultaneously. Conversely, it has been observed that the government continues to create new positions and recruit a large number of staff to various other entities at its discretion.
