Only Five Parties Submit 2025 Audit Reports as AP, MNP Miss Deadline
The Elections Commission has announced that while the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), People’s National Congress (PNC), Jumhooree Party (JP), Maldives Development Alliance (MDA), and People’s National Front (PNF) submitted their audit reports by the deadline, Adhaalath Party and the Maldives National Party (MNP) failed to do so. Furthermore, the Commission confirmed that only four political parties currently meet the 10,000-member threshold required to qualify for state funding from the 2026 national budget.

The Elections Commission (EC) has shared details regarding the submission of the 2025 audit reports by political parties.
The Commission has announced that the deadline for political parties to submit their 2025 audit reports was May 20th of this year. According to the Commission, only five parties had submitted their reports by that date.
The political parties involved are the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), Jumhooree Party (JP), Maldives Development Alliance (MDA), People’s National Congress (PNC), and the People’s National Front (PNF).
Two political parties, Adhaalath Party and the Maldives National Party (MNP), have failed to submit their audit reports.
The Elections Commission previously announced that only four political parties meet the eligibility criteria to receive state funding from the 2026 national budget.
According to information released by the Elections Commission, only four political parties had reached the 10,000-member threshold by November 25, 2025, the date the People’s Majlis passed the 2026 state budget.
The Elections Commission has identified the parties as the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), the Jumhooree Party (JP), the Maldives Development Alliance (MDA), and the People’s National Congress (PNC).
