The agenda for Monday's Parliament sitting has been scheduled, focusing exclusively on the progression of two government-proposed bills.
The People's Majlis sitting for Monday is scheduled to commence at 09:00 AM. The agenda for this session is dedicated solely to the debate on two government-sponsored bills.
The agenda includes debates on the Digital Transformation Bill, introduced by Gadhdhoo MP Mohamed Ali, and the Digital Identity Bill, submitted by Alifushi MP Abdul Latheef Abdul Rahman.
It has been observed that a significant number of issues submitted by the opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) are currently stalled across various parliamentary committees. While these proceedings remain at a standstill, the pending matters consist entirely of urgent issues that require immediate resolution and are of critical importance to the public interest.
The Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has expressed concern over the current parliamentary session, alleging that instead of addressing public grievances, the focus has shifted entirely to processing government-sponsored bills designed to polish the administration's image without thorough research. The party noted that a significant backlog of issues remains stalled in parliamentary committees, including critical matters related to the economic hardships faced by ordinary citizens and the rising cost of living.
