Mohamed Ihusan, the MDP National Congress member for the constituency, has stated that some individuals in M. Raiymandhoo are opposed to the implementation of any development projects on the island.
Speaking on RaajjeTV’s "Vaudhunaama" program, Ihusan stated that some parties are opposed to implementing any development projects on the island, citing the reason that a specific segment of the population wishes to relocate.
Because a specific segment of the Raiymandhoo population is advocating for relocation, some parties are reluctant to initiate any projects or allow any developmental work to proceed on the island.Mohamed Ihusan / Member of the MDP National Congress
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu met with the Raiymandhoo Island Council and the Women's Development Committee (WDC) on March 6, 2024, to discuss the island's key development priorities and requirements.
During the meeting, the council highlighted several key concerns, including challenges within the education sector and the lack of essential water and sewerage services. They also raised issues regarding harbor accessibility and requested an expansion of the council's administrative jurisdiction. Furthermore, the council urged the government to expedite the completion of the Fenaka office building and sought an immediate solution for the island's broken ambulance.
Furthermore, Ihusan highlighted that although the previous administration had initiated water and sewerage projects and completed approximately 90 percent of the work, all progress has now come to a standstill. He further noted that the current government appears to have no interest in carrying out any development projects on the island.
