It has been revealed that Hassaan Waheed, a relative of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, has been receiving a salary from Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) for the past four months without performing any work.
A reliable source, speaking on condition of anonymity, has informed RaajjeMV that Hassaan continues to receive a salary as an employee of the Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL). However, RaajjeMV has learned that he does not actually report for work.
RaajjeMV has learned that Hassaan receives a monthly salary from MACL ranging between MVR 35,000 and MVR 65,000.
RaajjeMV was unable to obtain a comment from Hassaan regarding this matter, as he did not respond to multiple phone calls or messages.
Documents circulating on social media have revealed that three islands have been allocated to a company involving Hassaan Waheed for resort development. According to the records, three islands in Thaa Atoll were granted to Ayatana Hospitalities Private Limited, a company jointly owned by Hassaan and several Indian investors.
During a press conference held at the President's Office on Monday, President Muizzu responded to a journalist's inquiry regarding the matter, confirming that he had verified the information. The President stated that the islands had indeed been awarded to a company in which Hassaan held shares. Consequently, President Muizzu announced that Hassaan has been dismissed from his position at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Hassaan has also previously served as the Deputy Ambassador at the Embassy of the Maldives in the United Arab Emirates.
