Member of Parliament for the Kendhoo constituency, Mauroof Zakir, has stated that President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has failed to fulfill any of his inaugural pledges.

Speaking at Wednesday's parliamentary sitting, MP Mauroof Zakir highlighted several of President Muizzu's campaign pledges, noting the President's commitment to capping political appointments at 700 and completing the Ras Malé reclamation project within eight months. The member further noted that the President had promised to facilitate medical treatment for citizens in Thailand and Dubai, while ensuring that all ongoing development projects would proceed without interruption.

Furthermore, Mauroof Zakir stated that President Muizzu assured that no employees would be dismissed from their jobs and that the government had received positive indicators regarding the availability of foreign currency.

Who was it that promised to cap political appointments at 700 and complete the Rasmalé reclamation project within eight months? Who was it that assured citizens of medical treatment in Thailand and Dubai, pledged that development projects would proceed without interruption, and vowed that no employees would be dismissed? Who was it that claimed a "green signal" for foreign currency inflows was imminent? President Muizzu also stated that RTI requests would be unnecessary under his administration; yet now, even when such requests are filed, they remain unanswered.

Furthermore, the member noted that President Muizzu had stated there is currently not a single independent commission in the Maldives, while simultaneously pledging that he would not exert influence over independent institutions.

Mauroof Zakir stated that since President Muizzu assumed office, it has become increasingly evident that none of his pledges are being fulfilled. The member further noted that the nation's economic, financial, and social conditions are deteriorating on a daily basis.

Furthermore, Mauroof Zakir stated that the government has been introducing various pieces of legislation under different pretexts, yet to date, no citizen has benefited from these laws.

Mauroof Zakir stated that no one had approached President Muizzu claiming there was a leadership vacuum in the Maldives, asserting instead that the President sought the office of his own accord.

Furthermore, Mauroof Zakir stated that the country is in need of a capable leader, asserting that President Muizzu has proven incapable of anything beyond spreading falsehoods.
