President Muizzu: End the practice of influential figures securing flats and land for specific individuals

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated that while there have always been allegations of influential figures manipulating the distribution of flats and land plots to favor specific individuals, his top priority is to end this practice. He assured the public that the housing projects undertaken by this administration will be conducted free from any undue influence.

President Muizzu made these remarks while speaking on the second episode of the "Nation Chat" podcast on Thursday night.

President Muizzu, who faced allegations of unfairly distributing flats during his tenure as Housing Minister, has stated that the verification process for applications submitted under the current government's housing project is now underway. He further assured that no undue influence is being exerted and that the process is not being manipulated to favor any specific individual or family.

President Muizzu reaffirmed his belief that housing is the most essential and fundamental necessity for the people. He provided further assurances that there will be no irregularities or unfair practices in the allocation of flats and land plots under his administration. The President also expressed his full confidence in the officials tasked with carrying out these housing initiatives.

Highlighting that traffic and road-related issues are among the most significant challenges facing Malé City, the President stated that efforts are underway to find a comprehensive solution to the problem. President Muizzu noted that practical work is currently ongoing to improve road quality, resolve flooding issues, and address the city's parking crisis. Furthermore, the President emphasized the vital importance of individual responsibility, noting that a lasting solution can be achieved if everyone works together.

Furthermore, reiterating his commitment to prioritizing public concerns, President Muizzu stated that he intends to engage even more directly with the people to hear their grievances firsthand. In this regard, the President announced that a special program will soon be launched to provide opportunities for individuals from various sectors to meet with him personally and share their views.
