As the Maldives experiences the prevailing Southwest Monsoon, much of the country saw unsettled weather on Friday, with some regions recording heavy rainfall.
On Friday, various regions across the north and central Maldives experienced rainfall, with some islands reporting heavy downpours and thunderstorms. However, the Maldives Meteorological Service (MET) noted that weather conditions in the southern atolls are expected to remain favorable on Saturday. The MET Office has urged the public to remain vigilant regarding weather conditions, with a particular emphasis on those residing in or traveling through the central Maldives.
While the Maldives Meteorological Service has forecasted improved weather conditions for the next five days, both the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and the Met Office have highlighted several safety precautions to be observed during this period of the southwest monsoon.
