Widespread adverse weather affects Maldives; Dhiffushi records highest rainfall in the last 24 hours!
The Maldives Meteorological Service has forecasted deteriorating weather conditions across much of the country, with heavy rain, thunderstorms, and surface winds gusting up to 30 mph expected in the coming hours. Authorities have urged the public to exercise caution, particularly in northern and central atolls, as a low-pressure system in the region continues to intensify.

The Maldives Meteorological Service has reported widespread adverse weather conditions across the country, noting that Dhiffushi in Kaafu Atoll recorded the highest rainfall over the past 24 hours.
The Maldives Meteorological Service has announced that widespread rain is expected across much of the country from 10:00 a.m. Thursday to 10:00 a.m. Friday, with some islands likely to experience heavy showers and thunderstorms.
The Maldives Meteorological Service has stated that winds are expected to prevail from the southwest and west at speeds between 7 and 15 miles per hour, with gusts potentially reaching approximately 30 miles per hour during squalls. The department further noted that while seas are generally expected to remain slight, they may become moderately rough during showers.
Furthermore, the national meteorological office reported that Dhiffushi recorded 26.9 mm of rainfall between 8:00 a.m. Wednesday and 8:00 a.m. Thursday. Hulhule’ saw the second-highest rainfall at 22.5 mm. Other recorded figures include 19.2 mm in R. Alifushi, 11.4 mm in AA. Thoddoo, and 7.8 mm in K. Gaafaru.

The Maldives Meteorological Service has stated that a depression formed over the region is expected to bring heavy rainfall to parts of the northern and central atolls. As weather conditions deteriorate, the authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant and exercise caution.
