Former Health Minister Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim has been reappointed to a senior position at the President's Office at ministerial rank. According to available information, Nazim was appointed to the post sometime during the past week.
Nazim has been appointed as the Principal Secretary to the President on Policy and Manifesto. This position holds the rank of a cabinet minister. Nazim previously served as the Minister of Health during the administration of former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom.
Nazim initially held a senior position at the President's Office when the current administration took office. However, while serving in that role, he was appointed as the Minister of Health on September 30, 2024. Nazim resigned from his post as Health Minister during a cabinet reshuffle following the government's poor performance in last April's local council elections and referendum.
Following the mass resignation of several ministers on April 14, it has been observed that the government is reappointing some of these individuals to high-ranking positions. In addition to Nazim, the government has decided to appoint Adam Shareef Umar, who resigned as the Minister of Cities, Local Government and Public Works, as the new Ambassador to Qatar.
Furthermore, the government has decided to appoint the current Minister of Environment, Thoriq Ibrahim, as the Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates (UAE). These changes are viewed as part of the President's ongoing efforts to strengthen diplomatic ties with foreign nations and enhance the implementation of government policies.
