Man reported missing after diving into Hulhumalé lagoon found dead
Ibrahim Shakir, a native of K. Guraidhoo who went missing after diving into the Hulhumale lagoon to secure a rope, was discovered dead underwater early this morning following an extensive search operation.

A man who went missing after entering the waters of the Hulhumale' lagoon has been found dead following a search operation.
The deceased has been identified as 48-year-old Ibrahim Shakir, of Rathvillaage, K. Guraidhoo.
In a message shared with the media last night, police reported that a Maldivian man went missing after diving into the lagoon near the STELCO area in Hulhumalé to secure a rope. The incident was reported to the authorities at approximately 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
Police stated that following the report, Marine Police and the Coast Guard conducted a joint search operation to locate the individual.
The Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) stated that a man reported missing after jumping into the sea from a fuel barge anchored in the lagoon north of the Hulhule' seaplane terminal has been located. He was found safe within the Hulhumale' lagoon.
Furthermore, police cited Hulhumalé Hospital stating that he was discovered underwater at approximately 8:25 a.m. on Friday morning and was already deceased by the time he was brought to the facility.
