Over MVR 600,000 recovered in theft and robbery cases
Maldives Police Service has recovered stolen property and cash valued at over MVR 600,000 following a series of operations across Male' and Hulhumale'. During operations conducted by Male' police stations between April 15 and 21, authorities recovered items worth MVR 335,338, while an additional MVR 283,710 in stolen goods was retrieved from both phases of Hulhumale' during the first two weeks of April. These recoveries are the result of targeted police efforts to investigate and resolve numerous reports of theft and muggings filed across the capital city region.

Police have recovered a significant amount of cash and stolen property reported missing from various locations across Male' and Hulhumale'.
According to statistics released by the Male' City Police, a total of MVR 335,338 worth of cash and property was successfully recovered between April 15 and April 21, 2024.
During this period, the Galolhu Police Station recovered the highest value of cash and stolen property, totaling 173,800 MVR. Additionally, the Henveiru Police Station recovered 95,894 MVR, while the Maafannu Police Station successfully retrieved cash and items valued at 65,644 MVR.
Furthermore, during operations conducted by the police in Hulhumale' Phase 1 and Phase 2, a significant amount of cash and property linked to theft and robbery cases was recovered. Police stated that these operations, carried out between April 1 and April 14 this year, resulted in the recovery of cash and assets valued at a total of MVR 283,710.
The highest recovery of stolen cash and property during these operations was recorded by the Hulhumale' Phase 1 Police. Specifically, the Phase 1 Police Station successfully recovered items valued at MVR 181,910. Furthermore, efforts led by the Hulhumale' Phase 2 Police resulted in the successful recovery of property worth MVR 101,800.
Police stated that the recovered items include cash stolen in various incidents, as well as the estimated value of mugged property. These items were seized during police operations conducted in response to reports of theft and robbery across different areas of Male'.
