Calling for the immediate publication of these regulations to mitigate diving accidents, he emphasized that the government must provide adequate support to ensure the sustainable development of Fuvahmulah's tourism industry.

Former President Mohamed Nasheed has called for the immediate gazetting and publication of the diving "Code of Conduct" formulated by Fuvahmulah City divers and submitted to the government.
Speaking to the media after concluding his visit to Fuvahmulah City as part of the "Bodu Badhalu" (Great Change) campaign, Nasheed highlighted that the city has become a renowned and popular tourist destination. He noted that as Fuvahmulah continues to advance within the industry, it has gained particular acclaim as a premier destination for divers.
Furthermore, Nasheed stated that a "Code of Conduct" for diving activities, developed with the participation of all skilled divers operating in Fuvahmulah, has been submitted to the government, and it has now been nearly a year since the submission.
However, Nasheed noted that the regulations have yet to be gazetted or made public, describing the delay as a matter of concern. He further called for the immediate publication of the guidelines in the Government Gazette.
As you are aware, Fuvahmulah has become a highly renowned and popular tourism destination. It has gained significant traction, particularly among the diving community. In response, the divers of Fuvahmulah have collectively formulated a Code of Conduct, which has been submitted to the government for gazetting. Although it was submitted nearly a year ago, it has yet to be officially published. Establishing standardized procedures and guidelines is essential to preventing the tragic diving-related incidents currently being witnessed.
